Once a palace, the Green Hotel in Mysore, South India (pictured below), is a rather grand location for a knitting holiday, don’t you agree? Knit for Peace, a charity that gathers and distributes knitted items worldwide, is offering a two-week stay as a prize in its fund-raising competition.

To enter, knit a farmyard (there are links to full instructions on the Knit for Peace website, which is also packed with other great knitting and fundraising ideas) and send it in by 31 October 2012.
Once enough entries have been received, the charity will organise a special exhibition in London that will end in an auction of the farmyards to raise funds for knitting groups in India, as well as to distribute knitted items to charities in the UK and around the world.
So you’ll not only be doing good, but your work could be seen by art lovers, farm lovers, knitting lovers and doing-good lovers. What’s not to love?
