Following on from the success of the knitwear design awards we supported at the Clothes Show Live 2010, we’re supporting two at this year’s event, Knitted Textile Designer of the Year 2011 and Knitter of the Year 2011.

Both are open to entrants aged 18 years and over, and for the first you need to design a handknitted garment incorporating structural elements that is still easy to wear.

For the other you need to design a garment inspired by Elizabeth Taylor, honouring the legendary actress who died in March 2011.

The Clothes Show is on at the NEC Birmingham from 2-7 December, complete with the lively Sknitch Zone, complete with stalls dedicated to knitting, stitching and customisation to fire up your creativity.

To be in with the chance of seeing your completed garment modelled on the Sknitch catwalk show, you’ll need to submit a drawing plus swatches by 4 October 2011, so get sketching!
