Two of our favourite colour gurus, Kaffe Fassett and Brandon Mably, pool their ideas in this beautiful collaboration published by the GMC Group.
Knitting With the Color Guys is a book brimming with inspiration and projects, all set within a riotous colour spectrum – just in time for a typically wet British summer. As we type this rain is splashing against the windows and turning the world grey, but this book makes us feel like we're somewhere so much sunnier. It’s as though Kaffe and Brandon have discovered the cure for rainy-day blues – by drowning them in vibrant pinks, reds, oranges and yellows. Each section is overflowing with such enthusiasm and energy you can’t help but smile.
Throughout, personal insights describe thoughts and feelings about patterns, colours, yarns, textures and the inspirations behind the designs. Some of the stories are quirky and unexpected, like the history of the X-Factor blanket, which started with a quilt for sale on eBay.
The book is divided into four delicious colour-themed sections: Soft tones (pastels), singing colours (vibrant and graphic), moody hues (smouldering tones) and rich shades (deep and intense).
Fabulous photography shows off textile pieces made into scarves, cushions (such as the zigzag cushion shown left), throws and blankets – an experienced knitter could mix and match the patterns and projects to make the most of them all.
Knitting with the Color Guys by Kaffe Fassett & Brandon Mably is published by Sixth & Spring, £16.99, HB.
