You may remember reading about Lisa Bentman's knitted nebula back in July 2011 - and now she's been hard at work again creating a mind-blowing hand-knitted portrait of David Bowie as Aladdin Sane!
This amazing piece measures 150x100cm, and Lisa knitted it in five separate panels. Once finished, they were sewn together and mounted onto a box canvas, and she then added the red and blue sequins for David's 'flash'. She used 12 different shades of yarn, and it took five weeks to complete!
Like her Orion Nebula, which raised over £2,000 for Maggie's Cancer Caring Centres, this portrait will be auctioned at the end of June at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. This time Lisa's raising funds for LandAid, the property industry charity that helps disadvantaged young people in the UK.
You can read more about the work on Lisa's blog, along with detailed photos of the work in progress.
