With Wool Week taking place from Monday 15th to Sunday 21st October, Artesano and Beaker Button have teamed up for a few day of revelry that should also do some good.

From 16-21 October Artesano and Beaker Button will be throwing open Beaker Button’s premises in Weyhill, Andover, and inviting you to immerse yourself in the spirit of the 1940s. “We will be dressing in 1940's clothing, listening to music and eating food from the time,” says Jenny from Artesano. “We'll have Make do and Mend demonstrations, focusing on reusing woollen goods but including other cool stuff as well.”
One of the key aims of the week will be to knit as many pairs of socks and as many hats as possible, which they will then send out to troops serving in Afghanistan and other places across the globe. “At the same time we can promote knitting and wool (all our socks will be 100% British wool, using Artesano British) and have some fun as well.”
They are inviting anyone in the area to drop in and experience some 1940s knitting.
If you are unable to attend but would still like to join in, you’re more than welcome. Just send your finished socks to Beaker Button at Beaker Button, Studio 11, Fairground Craft and Design Centre, Weyhill, Andover SP11 0QN.
