Get inspired by the Knitting and Stitching Shows 2012

If you’re anything like us, you’ll be hungry for crafting inspiration in the run up to Christmas, so the Knitting and Stitching Shows couldn’t have better timing!

Knitting and Stitching Show

Look out for fashion shows from Rowan Yarns, and find out how Felicity Clarke and Hazel Connors have made use of those sorry back-of-the-cupboard 'Unfinished Projects' with an intriguing exhibition.

Knitting stand at Knitting and Stitching showWe vote for heading over to the ‘Upcycling Academy’ to see how crafters working with textile charity TRAID transform tired old fabrics  learn to turna  jumper into a cushion, some rags into a quilt, or a pair of curtains into a dress. There's even an 'Upcycler of the Year' competition!

Other highlights include Coats Crafts, Craft Guerilla and The Embroiderers' Guild in the First Steps Lounge, where they'll be encouraging newbies to tackle techniques such as patchwork, simple sewing, hand appliqué and crochet.

Workshops at Harrogate Knitting and Stitching showFor something more structured sign up for one of the one or two hour Learning Curve workshops, covering everything from making Christmas bunting to couching and crewel work.

Plus there are plenty of opportunities to re-stock your stash, with exhibitors and stall-holders including Stealthbunny Buttons, The Knitting and Crochet Guild, Ruth and Belinda, plus so many more!

Show organiser Anna Baptiste says: “The Knitting and Stitching Show has witnessed a huge change in attitude since its inception over 20 years ago. What began as a niche attraction has become a trendy place to meet crafty friends, buy new products and learn something new.”

Sounds like the perfect combination to us!

The Knitting and Stitching Show takes place at London's Ally Pally from 11-14 October 2012. If you can't make it to London, why not head to RDS Dublin from 1-4 Nevember or Harrogate International Centre from 22-25 November 2012?
