Valentine’s Day really is on the horizon, and half of us in the Simply Kntting office are gleeful with anticipations, while half are grimacing at the prospect. Whatever you feel about this day celebrating love and romance, we have plenty of suggestions for gifts to knit. They’ll also make perfect wedding favours or gifts. Plus they’re all great stashbusters!
In issue 89 of Simply Knitting (on sale till 24 Jan 2012) Kirstie McLeod came up with an array of gorgeous quick knits to please cupid, with knitting patterns for six special gifts, including a calorie-free array of dainty chocs, a sweet soft heart, dinky cuff links, a single knitted rose and a cosy mug hug embellished with the heart-shaped buttons that come free with this issue.
We love them so much we thought we’d share one with you here.

TO MAKE UP
Using cream and pink, embroider chain stitch patterns and French knots on the
top of the knitting.
Weave in all the loose ends. Sew up halfway up the seam, fill with stuffing and close the seam.
Why not hide some real sweets among the knitted chocs?
