Sue Blacker of Blacker Yarns announce the launch of their brand new Blacker Swan yarn range, and a visit from a yarn-loving sea lion!

We have had good success with our luxury yarns so this autumn we are very pleased to be able to launch a new range, called Blacker Swan, undertaken in partnership with an individual farm on the Falkland Islands, producing very high quality and high welfare merino wool.
To launch the yarn, we will be bringing out a special range of patterns and these are with the designers at present.
This photo was taken on the Falkland Islands farm where our new Blacker Swan yarns are grown on the sheep – it shows a visiting sea-lion with one of Andrez’ pigs in the background! Clearly as they are both looking in the same direction they are admiring the sheep about to be shorn this year!!
In other yarn news, to allow for some higher volumes of sales while maintaining the quality and unique breed-specific nature of our offer, we have re-organised our range of yarns. So last year we launched our introductory range, Blacker Classic, which is a nice soft yarn at good value prices, available in 4-ply, DK, Aran and Chunky.
We are streamlining our Blacker Breeds and Blacker Blends lines too, keeping the favourites and as much as we can obtain of the rare breeds, but will also now add some regular limited edition ranges of breeds which are more rare and unusual.
We expect Blacker Swan to come out just before Christmas and the designers and knitters tell us it will be well worth the wait!
